Chögyam Trungpa

Chögyam Trungpa (1939 - April 4, 1987) was a meditation master, scholar, teacher and artist.

Born in Tibet, Trungpa was raised within the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

In 1974, Trungpa founded the Naropa University[?] in Boulder, Colorado, the only accredited Buddhist university in North America. He also founded more than 100 meditation centers throughout the world.

In 1976, Trungpa established Shambhala Training[?], which was inspired by the legendary Kingdom of Shambhala[?]. Shambhala Training focuses on providing instruction in meditation practice.
