Caroll Spinney

Caroll Spinney is a puppeteer most famous for his role as Big Bird on Sesame Workshop's title program, Sesame Street. He has described his larger than life experience as "a lot like growing up to be Mickey Mouse... only taller!"

Under the name Ed Spinney, Caroll Spinney animated a series of black and white cartoons[?] called Crazy Crayon[?].

When he was in the military, Caroll wrote and illustrated Harvey[?], a comic strip about military life. He wrote it under the pseudonym Ed Spinney.

Caroll created a puppet of a cat named Picklepuss[?], long before he joined the inaugural cast of Sesame Street. This lovable cat and his other friends joined Caroll in entertaining audiences of the 1960s.

Under the guise of Oscar the Grouch, who also he plays on the show, he has written How to be a Grouch, a Whitman Tell-A-Tale picture book.
