Carfax Tower

The Carfax Tower is located at the conjunction of St Aldate's Street[?], Cornmarket Street, Queen's Street[?], and High Street[?] in central Oxford.

The name Carfax derives from the French "carrefour", or "crossroads". The Tower is all that remains of the 13th century St. Martin's Church[?] and it is 23 m (74 feet) tall.

It has recently (March/April 2003) been used as the meeting spot for anti-war protests.
