Cardamom

Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) is a pungent aromatic herb belonging to the Zingiberaceae family. The seed pods of the plant are dried and used in Indian and Asian cuisine[?] either whole or in a ground form.

Black cardamom (豆蔻) is a Chinese species of the plant, used in the same way as the green Indian variety.

Cardamom is very strong, so use it with caution. A touch of cardamom is often used in Danish pastry and breads.

(Catalan cardamom; Spanish cardamomo)
