The swiss canton of Zurich (in german Zürich) has a population of some 1.2 million. Its capital is the City of Zurich.

Geography The canton of Zurich is situated on the northern side of the Alps. Its neighbouring cantons are Schaffhausen[?] to the north, Aargau to the west, the cantons of Zug and Schwyz[?] to the south and the cantons of Thurgau[?] and St.Gallen[?] to the east. Most of Lake Zurich is located within the canton.

Political substructures The Canton is divided into 171 communities in 12 districts:

Legislative Power The parliament has 200 members elected every four years Executive Power The cabinet with 7 members.
