Australian public holidays

Following is a list of public holidays observed in Australia

In addition to the holidays listed in the table below, Remembrance Day is also observed on November 11, but it is not a public holiday. Depending on the state, holidays falling on a Saturday or Sunday may be moved to Monday.

Additionally, there are a number of regional public holidays—for example, Melbourne Cup day is a public holiday in the Melbourne metropolitan region, whilst March 18 is celebrated as Canberra Day and is a public holiday within the Australian Capital Territory.
