Aurangzeb

Aurangzeb was the ruler of the Mughal Empire from 1658 until 1707. He is commonly considered the last of the great Mughal emperors. He made a substantial push for territorial gains in the Deccan[?], battling Shivaji of the Marathas[?]. The Mughal Empire reached its largest geographical size under his rule. However, this is seen by many to be a Pyrrhic victory: the empire could not hold together from the strain of constant military campaigns, and after the death of Aurangzeb, the Mughal Empire entered a long decline.

Previous Emperor: Shah Jahan
