Are

An are (symbol a) is a unit of surface area, equivalent to 100 square metres. The are is most familiar through its derived unit, the hectare.

1 are = 100 square metres
100 are = 1 hectare = 10,000 square meters

One are equals 1076.3910 square feet. One hectare is roughly 2.47 acres.
