Acequia, Idaho

Acequia is a city located in Minidoka County, Idaho. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 144.

Geography Acequia is about 5 miles northeast of the city of Rupert. It is north of U.S. Route 30.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²). None of the area is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 144 people, 48 households, and 38 families residing in the city. The population density is 179.4/km² (467.1/mi²). There are 51 housing units at an average density of 63.5/km² (165.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 58.33% White, 0.69% African American, 0.69% Native American, 0.69% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 38.89% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. 43.06% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 48 households out of which 41.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.0% are married couples living together, 4.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% are non-families. 18.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.00 and the average family size is 3.50.

In the city the population is spread out with 34.7% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 125.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 113.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $26,563, and the median income for a family is $24,375. Males have a median income of $22,500 versus $13,125 for females. The per capita income for the city is $10,430. 23.7% of the population and 17.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 40.8% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
