XWin

XWin is a fork of the XFree86 project, led by XFree86 developper Keith Packard[?]. XFree86 project's governance and the creation by the project of yet another font handler, STSF[?] this one made by Sun - Packard being the creator of the Fontconfig[?] and XFT[?] projects which did the same things - led to the fork.

The current focus of XWin is currently the formation of a government of sorts to bring better commmunity support to X, and eventually the development of a windowing system that is nearer to the developers than XFree86. Theoretically speaking, binaries made for XFree86 should work fine with XWin, and vice-versa. More, since both XFree86 and XWin's licenses are rather lax, code sharing should be frequent.
