Xishuangbanna

Sipsongpanna (西双版纳, pinyin Xishuangbanna) is a zizhi zhou (autonomous "state") in southern Yunnan Province, China. The capital city is Jinghong[?], which straddles the Mekong river.

Xishuangbanna is the home of the Dai minority. The region sits at a comparatively low altitude to the rest of Yunnan, and has a tropical climate. It is fast becoming a sought after tourist destination.
