is a pit town in
County Durham
, in the foothills of the
Pennines
and near the

. It is close to

Bishop Auckland[?]
. The

closed in
1967
and the town has still not fully recovered. The
Labour Party
is very strong here, and in the 2003 council elections,
Labour
won 82% of the vote in Willingdon. Willington is part of

council, and
Durham North West[?]
parliamentary constituency.
