Willington

Willington is a pit town in County Durham, in the foothills of the Pennines and near the River Wear[?]. It is close to Crook[?] and Bishop Auckland[?]. The colliery[?] closed in 1967 and the town has still not fully recovered. The Labour Party is very strong here, and in the 2003 council elections, Labour won 82% of the vote in Willingdon. Willington is part of Wear Valley[?] council, and Durham North West[?] parliamentary constituency.
