These are only suggestions, things to give us focus and to get us going, and you shouldn't feel obligated in the least to follow them. - Define a standard format for editing pages on individual voting systems
- Edit information about voting systems not specific to any one voting system, especially criteria for evaluating voting systems
- Import and edit the large amount of public domain information that exists on the internet on voting systems and criteria for evaluating them
Issues to consider
Voting systems is a domain that has been analyzed from sharply different and contrasting disciplines: game theory, sociology, political science, decision science[?], cognitive science and economics. Our articles should give a clear summary of the analysis from as many of these domains as we can get, without overly relying on jargon from either. Where there is jargon, explain it in another article, e.g. tolerances versus preferences. In those articles the different schemas and terms of art should be explained when necessary.Parentage No parent of this WikiProject has been defined yet.

Structure There will be an overview of the study of voting systems at Voting system. This page will discuss the different types of voting systems, the history of voting systems, the history of the study of voting systems. It will stick to the formal political / legal context, with considerations for other forms of decision making marked clearly.
It will briefly describe voting systems and link to longer articles on each voting systems. Similarly, it will briefly describe criteria for evaluating voting systems, and link to longer articles on each criteria. See also: List of voting systems topics.

Name and brief description, with mentions of prominent places where the system is used. No comparison with other systems, only contrasting to clarify names.

Description of how a voter interacts with the system. What ballots look like. What the voter expresses (e.g. approval, disapproval, a ranked preference per candidate) and what they are told the mark means.

Description of how the winner/s is/are determined.

An example with made-up candidates and votes.
Potential for tactical voting
Exploiting features of the voting system in the small, to deliberately split or unify voting blocs, within a single vote.
Impact on factions and candidates
How factions, parties, candidates change strategy based upon use of a given voting system. What impact the voting system has on the structure of parties or factions.
Comparisons
Detailed comparison of this voting system with other like systems.
Impact on political jurisdiction or organization
More controversial issues: how a voting system alters the jurisdiction or organization.
Movements backing/opposing this system
Claims of various advocates of different systems should be listed here when necessary for complete encyclopic content.
