WikiProject Novels aims to define a standard of consistency for articles about novels. Through implementaton of standards such as these, Wikipedia can gain some structure to unify it as a reference, making content more easily and quickly located with common organization for novel articles.

However, do not forget the spirit behind these guidelines. If they make editing or reading more difficult for a particular novel or for novels in general, change them or ignore them, preferably with some explanation on talk or meta pages. Many novels don't yet have enough on Wikipedia to necessitate layouts such as this, or have special requirements that do not fit the template exactly. Feel free to adapt this WikiProject to specific situations and to discuss changes to it.
