Wayne is a town located in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 496.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 95.2 km² (36.8 mi²). 95.1 km² (36.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.11% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 496 people, 176 households, and 139 families residing in the town. The population density is 5.2/km² (13.5/mi²). There are 178 housing units at an average density of 1.9/km² (4.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 1.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 176 households out of which 38.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.6% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.0% are non-families. 17.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.82 and the average family size is 3.17.

In the town the population is spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 27.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 118.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 113.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $44,821, and the median income for a family is $47,292. Males have a median income of $31,842 versus $21,417 for females.
