Wallace is a town located in Codington County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 86.

Wallace was the birthplace of Hubert H. Humphrey, the Vice President of the United States from 1965-1969.

Geography Wallace is located at 45°5'6" North, 97°28'44" West (45.085069, -97.478896)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²). 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 86 people, 37 households, and 23 families residing in the town. The population density is 255.4/km² (637.8/mi²). There are 45 housing units at an average density of 133.7/km² (333.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 37 households out of which 35.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% are married couples living together, 5.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% are non-families. 37.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 27.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 3.13.

In the town the population is spread out with 33.7% under the age of 18, 3.5% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 9.3% from 45 to 64, and 25.6% who are 65 years of age or older.
