Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited, usually referred to as Virgin Atlantic, is a British airline first founded in the mid 1980s by Sir Richard Branson utilizing a single Boeing 747 on scheduled service between London and New York. Now consisting of a large number of widebody[?] aircraft servicing long-haul[?] markets around the globe, Virgin Atlantic is the flagship organization under the Virgin brand, and competes with British Airways for the title of "most prestigious airline" based in London.
