USS Sumner
At least three United States Navy ships have been named Sumner, after the 19th century Navy captain Thomas Hubbard Sumner[?].
- The first Sumner (DD-333)[?] was a destroyer commissioned in 1921.
- The second Sumner (AGS-5)[?] was originally the submarine tender[?] Bushnell, converted to a survey ship[?] in World War II, and a participant in the nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll.
- The third Sumner (T-AGS-61)[?] is a Pathfinder-class[?] oceanographic survey ship[?] that became operational in 1997.
The destroyer Allen M. Sumner (DD-692)[?] may also be referred to informally as Sumner.
