USS Hawes (FFG-53)

USS Hawes (FFG-53) is a later model Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate. The contract to build Hawes was awarded to Bath Iron Works May 22, 1981, and her keel was laid August 26, 1983. She was launched February 18, 1984, delivered February 1, 1985, and commissioned February 9, 1984.
