Typical antipsychotic
Typical antipsychotics (conventional antipsychotics), developed by the 1950s and used to treat schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders[?] and psychosis, are generally being replaced by atypical antipsychotic drugs.
Common Side Effects Common side effects include: dry-mouth, muscle-stiffness, muscle-cramping, tardive dyskinesia[?], tremors, and weight-gain. The risk of tardive dyskinesia is ~4%. These symptoms can be permanent, despite discontinuation of the medication.
