Trebonianus Gallus

Gaius Vibius Trebonianus Gallus served as Emperor AD 251 - 253. He was proclaimed Emperor by the army in Moesia after Decius' death at the Battle of Abrittus. He may have persecuted Christians in Rome, as he arrested and imprisoned Pope Cornelius in 252. Later that year, the Persians invaded and took control of the province of Syria. His reign was an uneasy one, sadly too typical of the Third century. His rule ended when he and his son Volusianus[?] were murdered by his troops at Interama[?].
