Travertine

Travertine is a white concretionary form of calcium carbonate that is usually hard and semicrystalline. It is deposited from the water of mineral springs[?] (especially hot springs) or streams holding lime in solution. Extensive deposits exist at Tivoli, Italy, near Rome.
