The Velvet Underground and Nico

The Velvet Underground and Nico was the debut album by the Velvet Underground, released in 1967.

As well as the band (which at this time consisted of Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison[?] and Mo Tucker[?]), the record features Nico on several tracks, an addition made at the behest of the band's then-manager, Andy Warhol.

It is sometimes referred to as the "banana album" as it features a Warhol print of a banana on the cover. Early copies of the album invited the owner to "Peel Slowly and See"; peeling back the skin revealed a flesh-coloured banana underneath.
