The Story of the Nail, the second album by openly
gay singer/songwriter
Easter Bradford, features confessional and sultry
music dealing with interpersonal relationships, romantic conflict and religious strife. The album's title is derived from a story told by a character in a novel by author
Piers Anthony that explains the history of the
gypsies and their tradition of wanderlust. (This story, in turn, is derived from one in the
Bible.) The track listing is:
- The Story of the Nail
- The Story of the Wood
- The Story of the Air
- The Story of the Water
- The Story of the Sponge
- The Story of the Robe
- The Story of the Blood
- The Story of the Nail (Pt. 2)
The album was never officially released by the independent label for which it was recorded. Tracks were so widely circulated on the internet that a commercial release was deemed financially useless. The only "legitimate" copies circulating are industry promotional versions.
