The Samaritans

The Samaritans are a British organization for counselling those who are suicidal or in despair. They were founded in 1953 by Chad Varah[?], whose personal experience as a vicar led him to understand that there was a need for this service.

The Samaritans are part of Befrienders International[?], the international organization set up to coordinate befriending activities internationally.
