Sydney Rocks

The Sydney Rocks, or simply "The Rocks" is an historic area of Sydney dating from the earliest European settlement in Australia in 1788.

It lies to the west of Sydney Cove on the southern side of Sydney Harbour[?] (Port Jackson).

The area was saved from development in the 1970s by a campaign of Green Bans[?] conducted by the builders' labourers' union movement lead at the time by Jack Mundy[?].

The area operates today as a major tourist attraction.
