Star Trek: The Final Frontier

Redirected from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Paramount, 1989) is the fifth in the series of films about the continuing adventures of the crew of the USS Enterprise following on from the original series of "Star Trek".

The plot revolves around Spock's previously unmentioned half-brother, a renegade Vulcan named Sybok, who has rejected the Vulcan ways of logic and the supression of emotions, and has embarked on a quest to find the true physical location of heaven.

The plot features the first crossing of the "Great Barrier" by a starship in the Federation's history.

The film was directed by William Shatner.

The film was released to unforgivingly negative reviews, the likes of which had not been seen since Howard the Duck in 1986, and would not be repeated until Showgirls was released in 1995. While the film did make a reasonable profit, it was a far cry from the success of the previous installments. Over the years, it has gained some supporters, but is still not well regarded.
