Staines

Staines is a rather undistinguished town to the west of London, England. It contains the administrative offices of the Borough of Spelthorne[?], part of the county of Surrey. Historically, it was part of the county of Middlesex.

Most of the town is on the north bank of the River Thames, across which there has been a bridge since Roman times (hence the Roman name of the town Pontes[?]). Staines is also the home of the fictional character Ali G.
