Sonogram

A sonogram is a three-dimensional diagram of a speech signal. One axis shows time, the second frequency and the third intensity. Often the diagram is reduced to two dimensions by indicating the intensity with thicker lines or more intense colors or grey values. Sonograms are used to identify phonetic sounds, and to analyse the cries of animals. The instrument that generates a sonogram is called a sonograph[?].
