Skokomish is a town located in Mason County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 616.

Geography Skokomish is located at 47°19'60" North, 123°9'27" West (47.333275, -123.157438)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 17.8 km² (6.9 mi²). 17.2 km² (6.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.20% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 616 people, 186 households, and 153 families residing in the town. The population density is 35.7/km² (92.5/mi²). There are 195 housing units at an average density of 11.3/km² (29.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 19.16% White, 0.00% African American, 78.90% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.32% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. 2.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 186 households out of which 49.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.0% are married couples living together, 21.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.7% are non-families. 12.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.31 and the average family size is 3.42.

In the town the population is spread out with 38.1% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 18.3% from 45 to 64, and 6.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 103.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 109.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $24,038, and the median income for a family is $26,563. Males have a median income of $23,750 versus $25,125 for females. The per capita income for the town is $9,548. 29.3% of the population and 26.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 27.3% are under the age of 18 and 10.6% are 65 or older.
