Sharpless epoxidation

Sharpless epoxidation is a chemical reaction of an allylicalkohols with t-Butylperoxide and Titaniumtetraisopropylate to form an epoxide. To form chiral[?] products it is possible to ad diethyltartrates.

Epoxides can be easyly converted into dialkohols, aminoalkohols or ethers, therefor formation of chiral epoxides is a very important step in naturalprodukt synthesis.

K. Barry Sharpless[?] got the Nobel prize 2001.
