Shane

Shane is a 1953 western film which tells the story of a gunfighter who comes to a town and sides with the farmers versus the cattle men. It stars Alan Ladd[?], Jean Arthur, Van Heflin[?], Brandon De Wilde[?], Jack Palance[?], Ben Johnson, Edgar Buchanan[?], Emile Meyer[?] and Elisha Cook Jr.[?].

The movie was written by Jack Schaefer[?], A.B. Guthrie Jr.[?] and Jack Sher[?]. It was directed by George Stevens.

It won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography, Color. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Brandon De Wilde), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Jack Palance), Best Director, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay.

Shane was remade as a television series[?] in 1966, starring David Carradine[?]. The original film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
