Sea monster

"Sea monsters" are large strange creatures found in the sea. Accounts of these animals occur throughout history, for example the encounter of Sir Humphrey Gilbert of the coast of Newfoundland in 1583.

It is often unclear what these "monsters" might be: whales, Giant squid, Colossal Squid. A recent example is the strange creature washed up on the Chilean sea shore in July 2003. It was described as being like a mammoth jellyfish as long as a bus. Scientists are still debating what this creature could be.
