Giant squid

The Giant squid, Architeuthis dux is a deep ocean dweller that can grow to tremendous size. Little is known about this elusive creature, however it has been known to attack and eat whales. Tales of giant squid have been common among mariners since ancient times, and may have lead to the legend of the kraken, a tentacled monster capable of engulfing and sinking a ship.

Recently an even larger squid, the colossal squid, has been found.
