Mucius

Redirected from Scaevola

In Roman mythology, Mucius was a hero who saved Rome from the Etruscans, led by Porsinna[?]. Mucius tried to kill the Etruscan leader but was captured by his guards. Porsinna was impressed by Mucius' resolve and lack of fear. Mucius proved his bravery by placing his right hand in a fire. Porsinna released Mucius. Because of this, Mucius was called Scaevola ("left hand").

Alternative: Mucius Scaevola
