Sawfish (window manager)

Sawfish is an advanced window manager for X, which mainly runs on UNIX and UNIX-like systems, like GNU/Linux. It was formely known as Sawmill[?], but legal problems (can anyone precise the nature of them ?).

Sawfish's main characteristic is the fact that it is fully coded in a LISP-like scripting language, rep[?], making it very easy to extend. For exemple, there are keybindings for XMMS.

Sawfish doesn't come with a panel - however, it is GNOME-compliant, and is often used alongside this desktop enviroment[?].

The latest version is 1.1, released on June 29, 2003.

Can anybody add an history of the project ?
