Sarah Marple-Cantrell

Sarah Montgomery Marple-Cantrell (December 28, 1990 - April 16, 2003) was an American sixth-grade schoolgirl who died after shooting herself at the age of twelve. She was born to Cyrus Cantrell (a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas[?]) and Lynn Marple.

She attended St. Alcuin Montessori School[?] in Dallas, Texas from "Toddler class" (beginning at eighteen months) up to second grade, and subsequently attended Greenhill School[?] in Addison, Texas. It was in a school bathroom that she shot herself. Although school officials did not release her name, she was identified by the Dallas County medical examiner's office.

Sarah Marple-Cantrell was known for her artistic and literary interests, her studies of pioneer[?] and Native American cultures, and her love of nature.
