Saint Lawrence

Saint Lawrence (Laurentius in Latin) was one of the seven deacons of Rome, where he was martyred in 258. According to legend, he was roasted to death on a grid, but it is more likely that he was beheaded. His feast day is August 10 and his emblem is a gridiron[?]. He is the patron saint of librarians.
