Sacred

Something is sacred if it possesses powerful and frightening connections to the supernatural. In a religion, sacred things are to be revered for their connections to divinity. For instance, Pagans consider the Earth sacred, while Roman Catholics consider the transformed host sacred. One might argue that the US government considers the Stars and Stripes to be sacred.
