Sacheen Littlefeather

Sacheen Littlefeather (born 1947), donned in Apache dress, rejected the Oscar on behalf of actor Marlon Brando in a prepared statement at the March 27, 1973 Academy Awards. She refused Brando's Best Actor Oscar for The Godfather to protest Hollywood's and television's mistreatment of American Indians, including Wounded Knee. "Littlefeather" -- aka Maria Cruz -- is of Hispanic ancestry.
