Ry Cooder

Ry Cooder (born March 15, 1947) is a guitarist especially well respected for his slide-style work. He was born in Los Angeles, California.

Cooder has worked as a studio musician and has also scored many film soundtracks. In recent years, Cooder has played a role in the increased appreciation of Cuban music, due to his work as part of the Buena Vista Social Club[?] project, which resulted in a Grammy Award-winning album in 1997. Wim Wenders directed a documenary film about the project. It was nominated for an Academy Award in 2000.
