Ruggles of Red Gap

Ruggles of Red Gap is a 1914 play by Harry Leon Wilson[?], made into a movie several times, mostly famously in 1935. In the comedy Western film Lord Burnstead (Roland Young[?]) loses his butler Ruggles (Charles Laughton) playing poker. Egbert and Effie Floud (Charlie Ruggles[?] and Mary Boland[?]) bring Ruggles back to Red Gap, a Western town. When the butler is mistaken for a wealthy Englishman, he becomes a small-town celebrity.

The film was written by Walter DeLeon[?], Humphrey Pearson[?] and Harlan Thompson[?] from the novel and play of the same name by Harry Leon Wilson[?]. It was directed by Leo McCarey.

The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
