RSS is an acronym for:

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a Hindu group.
Really Simple Syndication, a web syndication protocol in XML - this is also know as RSS 0.9x and 2.x
RDF Site Summary a XML subset which is a parallel standard to Really Simple Syndication but is based on RDF - also knows as RSS 1.x
