Rocket Ship Galileo

Rocket Ship Galileo is a science fiction novel by Robert Heinlein in which boys build a rocket ship in their backyard and take it to the moon. Okay, they actually finish it out in the desert, and a grown-up helps them. But they find Nazis on the moon! It was published in 1947.
