Rochefort

Rochefort is a city of western France, a seaport on the Atlantic Ocean. It is a sous-préfecture of the Charente-Maritime département.

Its military harbour has been fortified by Vauban.

The town has gained some fame with Jacque Demy[?]'s movie Les demoiselles de Rochefort[?].

Rochefort was the birthplace of Pierre Loti. His house has been turned into a museum.
