Riot control agent

A riot control agent is a non-lethal chemical used to disperse a riot. It can rapidly produce sensory irritation or disabling physical effects which disappear following termination of exposure. Examples include tear gases such as CS gas and CN gas as well as pepper spray.

The use of riot control agents in warfare is prohibited by the Chemical Weapons Convention.
