Riboflavin

Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, is a water-soluble compound that is required for the synthesis of FAD. Animals that cannot synthetize riboflavin (including humans) must take it in with food. The vitamin itself is essential in humans, as deficiency of riboflavin results in the disease beriberi.
