After a
man ejaculates, there is a time frame known as the
refractory period, ranging from minutes to hours and found to lengthen in individuals as they age, during which the penis is hypersensitive and further
sexual stimulation[?] to the
penis may even feel painful. This refractory period is a recovery phase, and is physiologically impossible to achieve continued
erection through or additional ejaculations or
orgasms during for almost all men.
Unlike men, women do not experience a refractory period immediately after orgasm and, in some cases, are capable of attaining addition orgasms[?] through further stimulation.
