Rathaus Schoeneberg

Each district in Berlin, Germany has a city hall ( Rathaus). During the time of occupation from 1945 to 1994 following WW II, the Berlin Rote Rathaus[?] was off limits to a divided West Berlin. As a 'temporary" measure the Rathaus Schoeneberg on Rudolph-Wilde-Platz became the official city hall for all of West Berlin. After the Re-unification of East- and West Berlin the Rote Rathaus at Alexander Platz became once again the seat of the main Berlin city hall.

Rathaus Schoeneberg on Rudolf-Wilde-Platz is the location were US President John F. Kennedy held his famous speech, proclaiming "Ich bin ein Berliner". Today the square is named for President Kennedy.
